Our mission statement: To
produce and sell profitably the highest quality beef in America,
focusing on natural standards, customer service, adding value,
and ethical practices.
Derek Kampfe, Founder
Derek is a Montana native with a unique background in industrial
engineering, management consulting, and ranching. Kampfe founded
Montana Legend in 1999 and built sales and systems from zero
to over 15,000 mail order and 175 restaurant customers. With
the company still growing quickly, Kampfe moved to COO in
June of 2004 and is currently responsible for operations,
production, call center, facilities, technology, human resources,
and office management. Prior to founding Montana Legend, Kampfe
was Vice President, Operations with the Lazy EL Ranch Corporation
in Roscoe Montana (1992-1999) and from 1987-1992 he worked
as a management consultant in the San Francisco area. Kampfe
attended Stanford University where he received a B.S. in Industrial
Engineering.
Keith Lauver, Chief Executive
Officer
Keith is a Montana native and serial entrepreneur who has
founded three successful startups in the past 19 years. Lauver¹s
most recent company was Gearworks, Inc., a Minnesota-based
wireless software company that delivers dramatic efficiency
and service improvements for companies with large numbers
of mobile field service workers. Founded in 1999, Gearworks
has deployed enterprise-wide mobile solutions to over 500
customers including Pepsi, General Motors, FTD, and RotoRooter
Inc. Having raised $24M to execute against his vision, Keith
was named "Minnesota Innovator of the Year" in 2002.
Prior to Gearworks, Lauver created, grew and evolved both
a software product and a software services company. Lauver
attended Carleton College, where he received a B.A. in Economics.
He has also attended Executive Education at the Stanford Graduate
School of Business.
