Cow as King
Forget crowding 10,000-head of cattle into small feedlots and herding with four-wheelers. Our beef is hand-raised in the authentic Western tradition by real cowboys and cowgirls who serve the cows.
The Better You Treat the
Cows, the Better the Beef™
Here in the high pastures of the Rocky Mountains, our cattle
grow up in cow-heaven. The cow is king, and the real cowboys
and cowgirls watching over them are loyal subjects, attentive
to their every need. Angus thrive here like no other place
on earth, lazily grazing on lush, pristine grasses washed
by icy, clear mountain springs. In addition to natural grass,
we granola-finish™ our Angus with chopped hay,
barley and a touch of corn for flavor. This combination provides
an all-natural, all-vegetarian diet, and—without any
growth hormones or antibiotics—ensures superior health
and nourishment.
It takes more time and expense to raise beef this way, but
the end result is a superior quality product with a noticeably
exquisite taste and tenderness.
Humanely Raised
Our humanely raised program not only delivers higher quality
meat to our customers, but matches a core philosophy of our
company.
Raising The World's Best Beef™ is a comprehensive,
year-round job. Montana Legend producers must follow a strict
set of guidelines with regard to how animals are raised, handled,
and cared for at every stage of their lives. In addition,
our producers and feeders agree to unannounced spot inspections
by Montana Legend staff and veterinarians.
Our standards detail production items including feed, water,
stock handling, branding, pastures and pens, care, inspections,
health records, and holding facilities.
Superior Feeding Program
Montana Legend has established relationships with small farmer-feeders
in the western U.S. Our feeders feed home-raised grain and
hay. They also handle far fewer numbers of cattle than most
commercial feedlots, thus efficiently managing animal health
and performance.
Our cattle are only fed the highest quality grain and hay,
with no antibiotic or hormone additives. Montana Legend staff
and veterinarians maintain these standards by doing spot inspections
and feed analysis on the farm. Animals are also inspected
and tested for hormone additives and antibiotics.
By utilizing this type of feeder, Montana Legend helps to
improve and strengthen sustainable agriculture and family
farming.
